Who Has Dominion Over The Earth?

Jesus Dominion-page-001

Many people believe that after Adam sinned, God gave Satan dominion over the Earth. This is somewhat true because this is when the earth and sky became polluted by sin, but after salvation, he is no longer your master. He does however have power over the fallen angels, devils, and demons.

Satan has limited power. He has no power above the clouds of the earth but his goal is to achieve God’s throne.
“How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! 13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: 14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.” Isaiah 14:12-14

Paul calls Satan the “prince of the power of the air”, meaning he is over the demons that fly above us. He is also referred to as Beelzebub the prince of the devils. This just confirms what I stated earlier, he is over fallen angels, devils, and demons.
“Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:” Ephesians 2:2
“But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.” Matthew 12:24

Satan is referred to as the god of this world. Notice the “g” is not capitalized. This means he is just one of many gods but our God is the only true and living God.
“In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” 2 Corinthians 4:4

Satan is not our friend but he is our adversary (enemy). He walks up and down upon the earth searching for those whom he may devour.
“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” 1 Peter 5:8
Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them. And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. Job 1:6-7

Satan is permitted to present himself in Heaven and is among the sons of God (angels) this is because he is an angel (fallen). His purpose is to accuse mankind. This is evident when God asked where he had been. Satan answered that he flew to and fro in the earth and walked up and down it. The reason he did this was to search for anyone he could convert to his sinful ways. A perfect example of his accusing was when God said that Job was a perfect and upright man and Satan pointed out that the only reason Job stayed perfect was because God put a protecting hedge around and about him. Satan wagered that if God took away this protection that Job would curse him. God then let Satan test Job but he could not harm anyone else.

“And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.” Revelation 12:10
“And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. And the Lord said unto Satan, The Lord rebuke thee, O Satan; even the Lord that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?” Zechariah 3:1-2
“And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? 10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. 11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. 12 And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.” Job 1:8-12

Jesus himself said that he is not of this world and neither are we after salvation.
“Jesus answered, My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.” John 18:36
“I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. 15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. 16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.” John17:14-16

We are told in Revelation, that Satan only has a short time to take his wrath out on mankind. His power will end, Hallelujah!
“But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.” Revelation 12:12

When Jesus was crucified, buried, and resurrected he was given victory over death and sin. God gave Jesus complete authority in Heaven and on Earth. Satan has limited power but Jesus has unlimited power. He will be honored as the King of all.
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”  Matthew 28:18-20
“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; 11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:10-12

Although Satan projects the illusion that he is the king of the Earth and master of all things, it is just an illusion. His only power is what we give him. We have the power through Jesus Christ to overcome this world.
