Jesus & His Lost Generation

lost generation-page-001

I read the story about Jesus’ birth almost every year as far back as I can remember, but it never really sank in; his whole generation of males were wiped out.

Not long ago, during Sunday school lesson on first fruits, our teacher read this, “Isaiah 53:8 (KJV) He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.”  At that very moment it was like, wow, the meaning of these words finally hit me, no males of his generation were left.

Herod in a jealous attempt to make sure there wouldn’t be a King greater than him, ordered the slaughter of newborn male babies.
Matthew 2:16(KJV) Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men.
Let this sink in, ALL male babies 2 & under were killed for the vanity of a power hungry king.  You might think, “oh, what a wicked man,” and you are right.  But, have you given any thought of the number of unborn babies that are murdered everyday via abortion, in our time?

I’ve pondered on this question, if all the males of Jesus’ generation were dead, who was left?  My first thought was; the women.  Although this is true, women unless no men stepped forward, during this time of history were not leaders.  So who does that leave?

    • The Great Commission found in Matthew 28:16-20 (KJV Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. 17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen
The Great Commission is not just for Jesus’ Disciples, but for us also.  We are considered disciples.

    • God fills each of us with the Holy Spirit (Ghost) upon our acceptance of Jesus Christ as our Saviour.
    • John 14:26 (KJV)  But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

    • Acts 1:8(KJV)  But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

    • Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
    • As a church we are overseers with the task to tell others about Jesus and God’s word.
    • Ephesians 2:20-22(KJV)
20 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; 21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: 22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

    • Acts 20:28(KJV)
28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood

Why do I believe the Disciples, the Holy Spirit and the Church were put in place to declare Jesus’ generation?  Because they were put in place by God, not only for Jesus’ lost generation, but for all generations.

Would love to hear your opinions on this.  Have a blessed week.

The Good Ole Days!

the good ole days-page-001
As a child growing up, I remember my mother talking about her childhood.  These conversations always fascinated me.  Of course part of the fascination was I didn’t totally understand what she was talking about.

Mom used to tell me about making dresses from flour and feed sacks.  I used to think what a terrible life mom must have had, and how poor her family must have been.  You see, when I went to the feed store with Grandpa, he would back his truck up to the loading dock and they would fill his bed up with these huge burlap bags of feed.  I used to shiver thinking of mom wearing such ugly, scratchy old dresses.  How in the world did she stand it?

I was a young adult before I found out feedbags weren’t always made from burlap; in fact they used to be made out of beautiful cotton prints.  When buying feed they used to browse through the stock of feed and pick out the sacks they liked to make a new outfit from.

My husband told me a similar story of how he and his brothers used to go to their coalhouse, where their dad kept their feed and fight over which sacks they wanted their Grandmother to make them a shirt from.  Shopping sure has changed, but not necessarily for the better.

Another story mom used to tell me, was how they buried apples to eat during the winter months.  It wasn’t until I was dating my husband that I found out the exact meaning of burying apples.  My husband was brought up on a farm.  During a visit with my mother, they were discussing how they used to bury apples in their garden.  Dummy me asked “How in the world did you find them?”  They both looked at me as if I said something totally crazy.  You see, I didn’t know that they dug a big hole and lined it with leaves then put the apples in and covered them with leaves.  I was thinking one apple at a time, each apple having it’s own hole.  People used to do the same with potatoes, cabbage…

When telling our children stories from our childhood we should make sure they understand what we are teaching.  My mother knew from her experience what she was talking about, but me, I never experienced it.  I believe it is very important for our children to know how other generations lived.  Not only should we share our experiences, but also our parents & grandparents experiences, IF we do not a way of life will be forgotten forever.

As Christians we must also teach & pass on our Christian heritage to our children, or Christ too will be forgotten. The bible stresses this fact also:  Deuteronomy 6:6-7 (KJV)  And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.

God also tells older women to teach younger women.  I personally was blessed by a wonderful mother & grandmother.  Some are not as blessed as I was, however, the bible does not say to teach your daughters/granddaughters onlyTitus 2:3-5 (KJV)  The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

Men are to be taught sound doctrine.  Think about it, if they aren’t taught, how can they teach their sons? Titus 2:1-2 (KJV)  But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine: That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.

I believe it is very important to bring your children up in church; make sure they understand the Bible and the meaning of salvation.  This will ensure God’s word will live on.

Hope you have a blessed week!

Hollywood Propagandizes The Bible

While surfing through channels the other night I came across one of the million movies about Noah. I stopped for a few minutes to see if it was accurate.  Nope had living, walking, fighting trees which kind of makes you think of “The Lord of the Ring”, movie.

Why am I upset about this?  Because Satan is using Hollywood to deceive people into thinking the Bible is a fairy-tale. They glorify the make believe elements. Most movie makers do not even have all the biblical facts correct, leading to confusion amongst people in general, new Christians and un-discipled Christians. 1 Corinthians 14:33 (KJV)  For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

Hollywood doesn’t only protray the Bible as a fairy-tale, but also twist regular TV shows as a way to push their values on their audience.  They present homosexual couples as a normal lifestyle, permissive sex etc.

Many people use the TV as a babysitting tool, then wonder why there are so many confused young people.  Most TV presents no moral training or factual truths.  If you are using TV, video games etc. as a babysitter, then you let your kids down BIG TIME!!!!

Jesus often taught in parables to make it easier for people to relate.  He did not do so with fables, but with real life examples.  One of his big concerns was people being misled.  If you pay close attention to this parable you will understand that just because the seed (God’s word) was planted, doesn’t mean all will be saved. Therefore; people watching incorrect, misleading Hollywood movies can be misled.

 Matthew 13 (KJV)
1The same day went Jesus out of the house, and sat by the sea side.
And great multitudes were gathered together unto him, so that he went into a ship, and sat; and the whole multitude stood on the shore.
And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying,  Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
(Jesus is using the picture of a person planting seeds)  Now lets break down the rest of the parable:

  • Not all people will listen to the truth of God’s word & the world will devour them
    •  And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
  • Some are not properly discipled in God’s word (lack of understanding-easily deceived) Professor of God, not a true believer)
    • Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away.
  • The worries & riches of this world blind them to God’s word (They hear, but are too focused on the world (professors of God’s word, not a true believer) The world chokes any thoughts to God’s word from penetrating.
    • And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
  • The Good Ground is the truly saved believer.  The believer not only professes but learns God’s word & tells others.  Not easily deceived because they know God’s word.
    • But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
  • This is important, BECAUSE Jesus tells us to listen
    • Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Three of the soils do not understand or do not want to understand God’s word, which makes it easy for some directors to portray the bible as a fairy-tale or present twisted facts.

I am not saying you cannot use a little creativity to make understanding the Bible a little easier; just make sure the biblical facts or correct & that you are emphasizing the Bible. My advice is, if you watch a movie based on the bible, when it’s over check it out against the bible.  Then and only then will you know if it portrayed the bible correctly.

Have a Blessed week.

Autumn Beauty

image1 (1)

Picture taken by my son Kevin of K D Gladwell Photography, took.

As I enjoyed my trips back & forth to my booth at the Mountain State Forest Festival, located in Elkins, WV, I again marveled at the beauty God made for us to enjoy.  I hope you feel the same way.  This is one of the beauty pictures in Randolph Co. WV that my son Kevin of K D Gladwell Photography, took.

The sky is such a pretty blue.
The air is crisp and cool.
The mountains display Gods majesty;
with beautiful autumn leaves as far as one can see.
The sun shines bright.
Birds take off on their southern flight.
Frost paints early morning with white,
and we pull our sweaters closed tight.
Streams flow clean and clear;
with little leaves floating to add cheer.
Animals scurry to fill up on the fruits and nuts;
and some a winter home hunt.
The howling winds blow leaves around.
Everywhere one looks beauty abounds.

Take the HATE Quiz

HATE QUIZ-page-001

Take a moment and answer these questions.  Be honest with yourself, for you are deceiving no one but yourself.

  • 40-50 million babies a year, worldwide are aborted, & this is ok with me*
  • Texas deserved Hurricane Irma tragedy because they are a red state
  • I have no sympathy for Las Vegas victims because Country music fans are Republicans
  • Only white people are supremist/racist
  • It’s ok that 90,000 Christians were killed in 2016**
  • Freedom of speech means; All voices, but mine, must be silenced by any means.
  • I have become addicted to smearing others on social media. I stay up night & day to find headlines to serve my purpose. My posts only show my addiction.  I post nothing regarding my family or friends, I live to promote my cause even if not totally truthful
  • I get upset when people say ALL lives matter
  • It’s ok for media to distort facts or make up stories to make people believe their way
  • It is funny to show a life like decapitated head, plays depicting murder of  POTUS, people calling for his assassination, someone literally showing their butt on TV & smearing feces on campaign poster (You don’t find any of this vulgar, but view as normal behavior)
  • It’s alright to harm police
  • It’s ok to riot, burn cities-business-homes, spit, hit, assult law enforcement or block public roads just because you don’t agree with the law, verdict, cause, belief or you don’t like the police or elected officials
  • You really don’t want to help people in their sinful state, deep down you think they deserve to go to hell

Unfortunately, if you answered yes to any of these, you are a HATER.

Ten years ago we would never have thought any of the above would have been possible in the world, let alone in the USA, yet all of the above has happened.  People we have become desensitized.  We don’t look at each other in love, but as a group with no feelings.  We demonize & physically harm people and believe they don’t feel pain.  We don’t look at people who oppose us as honest to goodness real human-beings with blood flowing through their veins.  Some don’t feel anything when someone they view as an enemy dies.  It’s like a make believe movie or video game.  Some don’t consider that they have family & love ones who suffer if harmed or killed.

  • 1 Corinthians 13:13(KJV)  And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity  Charity in this case is LOVE. We are to love each other.
  • Mark 12:30-31 (KJV)  And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. 31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
If we love God with all our being & love our neighbor as ourselves, there would be no way we could act hatefully toward anyone.

If we realize we have thought or done any part of the quiz, is their any hope for us or our Country/World?  Yes!!!

  • 2 Chronicles 7:14(KJV) If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

  • You must be saved. To become saved you must confess your sins to God, Believe Jesus Christ is God’s son & your savior, Ask Jesus to save your soul. Romans 10:10-13 (KJV) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Hope you found this useful. Have a blessed week.
