Jesus and Things

A young child riddled with cancer lies in bed;
fear of the unknown written across his face.
His mothers asks; “What’s on your mind hon?”
He replies “Jesus and things, Jesus and things.”

 A young man waits to be deployed to war;
as he sits and ponders, lost in thought.
His wife asks; “What’s on your mind hon?”
He replies “Jesus and things, Jesus and things.”

 A young wife finds she is with child.
The wonder of new life and love fills her with joy.
Her husband asks; “What’s on your mind hon?”
She replies “Jesus and things, Jesus and things.”

 A father concerned with the direction his child’s life is heading.
His soul cries as he prays.
His child sees his heartache and with a repenting heart asks;
“What’s on your mind dad?”
He replies “Jesus and things, Jesus and things.”

 An elderly woman faces death;
as she thinks back over her life and the family she raised.
Her husband asks: “What’s on your mind hon?”
She replies “Jesus and things, Jesus and things.”

A young man of God burdened for his congregation kneels at the altar.
Tears fill his eyes and God asks;
“What’s on your mind son?”
He replies “Jesus and things, Jesus and things.”

 As I sat by father’s hospital bed in the middle of the night I pondered his words when I asked him what was on his mind and he answered;
“Jesus and things, Jesus and things.”
