People are under the impression that if you didn’t vote for or you don’t like your leaders, then it’s wrong to pray for them. They even believe that those who do pray for them are sac-religious. I didn’t realize how many confused people there are in our country until Franklin Graham had a tweet to pray for our leaders. Some of the comments were way out of line.
I’m going to tell you why you might think you shouldn’t pray for leaders and show you why you should. If you really want to know, read the whole blog, then form your opinion.
WHY SOME MIGHT NOT PRAY FOR LEADERS
People who are in this anti-praying category could have one or more of the following things missing in their spiritual life:
- Maybe they haven’t accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior
- They are backsliding Christians
- They took fire insurance but don’t want to read the manual
What I mean by this is they don’t want to go to hell, so they decided to get saved.
The manual being the bible, they don’t read it & they don’t want to read it. They only
care about themselves and choose to be deadbeat Christians
- They have hardened their hearts
- Their Political Party is their God (study idols sometime)
WHY WE SHOULD PRAY FOR OUR LEADERS
- God demands we do
1 Timothy 2:1-2(KJV) I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; 2 For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.
- For peace in our Country & our lives
Sometimes in the bible and in our present time, due to sin etc, God let’s us be captives. He also tells us as captives we should pray for what is best for where he placed us & peace will be upon where we are placed and us! Jeremiah 29:7 (KJV) And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the Lord for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.
- For their salvation
1 Timothy 2:3-4 (KJV) For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; 4 Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. Yes, God wants even that leader you hate to get saved, and so shouldn’t you!
- God appoints leaders & Ordains them (according to our Countries spiritual conditions)
Daniel 2:21 (KJV) And he changeth the times and the seasons: he removeth kings, and setteth up kings: he giveth wisdom unto the wise, and knowledge to them that know understanding
Romans 13:1 (KJV) Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
- God promises to heal our land
2 Chronicles 7:14 (KJV) If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
I’ll quit on an important note to remember. You never pray for harm or death on a leader. You can pray for mercy on your country & your people. You can pray for wisdom and understanding for our leaders, but never harm or death. God is in control, He hears our prayers. He is the judge, not you & not me. The Bible clearly states God can turn our leaders hearts any way needed, but He won’t do this folks if you don’t pray. Proverbs 21:1 (KJV) The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
So, in conclusion, we should pray for our leaders, because this is commanded by God.
