Misconception #2 You are owed free stuff!

Some people, not really familiar with the bible, often get things a little confused.  They think that love is giving someone who doesn’t WANT to work a free ride. Did you know that even Jesus worked for a living? He was a carpenter apprentice as a child.  Jesus said he worked as well as his father-“John 5:17(KJV)But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.”  We all know Jesus taught by example.

When God created man he put him immediately to work; Genesis 2:15 (KJV)  And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.

Does this mean no one will ever need assistance? No, people will lose their jobs, but it means not to make an excuse for you, your family & your family families to make a career out of this assistance.

Now, I ask you if Jesus worked; why do some feel they should not have to work?  They believe we should take from the working man & give their fruits to people who just plain do not want to work? WRONG!!! See what the bible tells us:
2 Thessalonians 3:10 (KJV) For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.

Psalm 128:2 (KJV) For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.

Do you see the pattern here? If you do not work, you do not eat.  Is the bible saying that if you are handicap or if you are ill, you won’t get fed if you do not work?  No, it’s talking about the majority of the people that are perfectly fit & able, but have gotten too used to handouts. We are not doing them any favors with handouts, but are hindering them from the fruits of their own labor.

God never tells us to do something without instructions.  Did you ever wonder why there are so many different animals, insects, birds etc.?  I know, some are here for us to eat, but did you ever consider, why God made humans curious by nature? Answer is to observe.  For instance take the ant, every ant has a job.  It is said that ants can carry 5,000 times their own weight.  The bible tells us to observe the ant & their work ethics.Proverbs 6:6-9 (KJV) Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?”  Did you notice they have no guide, boss or ruler, but yet they work & gather food for the harvest? (by the way sluggard is a lazy person & the bible has a lot to say about the sluggard)

The bible also tells us it is good for our souls to work & that work is from the hand of God.  Ecclesiastes 2:24 (KJV)There is nothing better for a man, than that he should eat and drink, and that he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it was from the hand of God.

HOW LONG SHOULD WE WORK?  You are not going to like the biblical answer.  We should work all our lives! Genesis 3:19 (KJV)  In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

In conclusion, if we follow biblical rules there would be a whole lot less freeloading & a whole lot of happier people.
